We need your help to develop RealTimeBattle

We are curently working on two versions of RealTimeBattle :

RealTimeBattle v1

is the one you've always been playing with. The curent version is 1.0.5 and it still quite buggy. I don't know at all how it is working. I just know that nothing has been done since the last competition (Feb 2001). I don't know how to keep on developing this part, but it seems to be easy using cvs.

RealTimeBattle v2

is an enhanced version of RTB v1.
  • It will be possible to play over the net :
    • Competitions will be more easy
    • More robots on a same arena
    • Maybe a chat line to share ideas on robot programmation
  • The arena will be highly configurable :
    • Robots will have more choices in sensors and weapons
    • Arena is not a description of walls but a definition of a world (football ground, race track, ...)
  • Team playing and messages between robots

I've been developing the version 2 for more than 1 year, but I don't have much time to do it. The network is working enough to start working on negociations to configure a tournament. The GUI works quite well but I don't really know how to program in GTK so I can't improve it.
A lot of work is to do, and I can't manage to finish it by myself, so if you don't want to see the death of RTBv2, write me at roussebe@esstin.u-nancy.fr or have a look on SourceForge project page and make RTBv2 real !!!
